Question: Do I need a reason to get a divorce?
Answer: No. The only legal reason you need for a divorce in Virginia is that you conclude that the marriage has broken down. Virginia law accepts that there has been a breakdown of your marriage if you can prove that you and your spouse have been separated for at least one (1) year if you have children, or six (6) months if you have a Separation & Property Settlement Agreement, and no children.
